Höllental straße, Austria
Schwarzau im Gebirge, Naturpark
I should get this one debate out of the way. Höllental is translated to Hell Valley or Ugly Valley. The straße is neither ugly nor scary. I don’t know what happens there after the sun rises in New Zealand but for the duration of the business hours the area looks like a soft adventure in dancing shoes. Enough technical details, let’s go to Hell or get Ugly.
So what went down? The sun and path disappeared both at the same time and the few trees constituting the forest were shrouding the neighborhood in darkness. My four year old son and I were the only remaining visitors and begin to feel a little homesick. Or call it fear if you want. We were in a place the locals named it Hell – It was the major thought flying around in my mind then.
First having read about this “dangerous” road, and having no interest to investigate from other’s experiences, and having no sleep at night I took the child, some junk food and drove there just as the sun was appearing. There, everything looked elegant, too elegant for backwoods. How is my crude mind going to handle the twin trees, the immaculate grass, the waterfalls of moss grass on perfectly rounded rocks or the only goat there presentably waiting for visitors wearing a tuxedo and tie? Yes, the goat was well dressed. Every curb and every stone or tree… throughout the paths we see perfection.
Deserted and suddenly the dream of adventure begun when we lost the path and sunlight.
